Born July 10, 1980.Simpson was born in Abilene, Texas, the daughter of Tina and Joe Truett Simpson, who was a minister and psychologist.As a child, she began singing at her local Baptist church. At age twelve, Simpson unsuccessfully auditioned for The Mickey Mouse Club. While attending J.J. Pearce High School, she recorded a gospel music album with Proclaim Records. The record company went bankrupt and the album was never released. Simpson left high school at age sixteen (she later earned her GED), and toured the Christian music circuit
Us Weekly reports that Simpson recently visited some TV networks to pitch a reality series about society's scrutiny of women's bodies. The premise of the program, titled The Price of Beauty: "She and a friend set off on a road trip around the world in search of what people find beautiful and why". Simpson will be hands-on with the show—and will even try some of the "shocking things that women do to make themselves beautiful".She has also expressed much interest in starting acting in more serious parts, Simpson told People.com that she was in negotiations for two new films, she says "one is a romantic comedy, a bit like Down With Love meets Bridget Jones Diary and the other is a drama, something dark and edgy really what you would'nt expect from me".
